drear, and how to beat it...

into the blog pool we go...
i actually have a myspace music page where i put my sleepy little ditties
for ambient perusal... i can blog there i suppose, but away from the
music may be a bit freer, who knows... here i can talk about any old thing...
like the weather....
so we just closed out November in the most fitting Northern Hemisphere kind of way...
gloom, drear, blizzards, mud, freezing rain... and did i mention drear... i love that word...
Wednesday's drear forced me to play hooky from work, just like the Little Rascals woulda done...
that adorable Ms. Crabtree, ooh there's a Google for later...
anyhow, amidst the drear the most lovely little swayingly upbeat song poured out of me...
fueled by an amazing batch of clementines, those juicy jewels of early winter sunshine that help me
remember the feeling of salt drying on my back after surfing all morning, i dubbed it Clementine Rock...
Straight Outta Andalucia...
look for it on the Corduroy Couch soon, it's the languid one... and i tried to make it in the 4 minute range...
it clocks in at 11:30ish... what evah... back to the drear...
Thursday's drear found me back at work, not a bad thing... i enjoy my work, simple as it is...
plenty of time to ponder the boxes of albums contributed for the good of the warehouse headspace...
got to have my 15 month old darling Astrid with me for most of the morning too, much to the delight of all...
she entertained us with smiles and squeaks... the bicycle world is quite slow about now you see...
and don't forget the drear, dears... babies beat drear hands down... and so the pendulum swung...
as it always does...
a wonder of being a parent, apparently, happened to me Thursday afternoon...
my son brought home a book from the library that i had read as a young scamp, even did a book report on it...
i had completely "forgotten" about this book...
it's Roald Dahl's "Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator"... nostalgia is a fine drug...
we just watched the Tim Burton vision of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which i and we loved...
it's right next to the original in my book... top 10 material in my mental movie theater...
already, after two chapters, i'm enjoying this book wickedly... now i understand more about the
ingredients poured into my young political viewpoint stew....
but i won't discuss politics here, how draining, and i'm rallying over and against drear...
so the dagger in the drear balloon happened after all were tucked in and quiet came to visit...
after days after low, weighted clouds riding your back and hemming you in, the break always amazes...
stepping out on the deck for a last check, i look up and am dazzled by the spilt knify diamonds of
pure white starlight dancing through the bare branches of the November night...
now that i think about it, it could have been December already... a new month...

cheers, world at large...

aloha,
erik
